MacNean,

I had started with a copy of MythBuntu 10.10 and then added the mythbuntu-repos package, switch to 0.24 fixes and ran the aptitude update. I got my HDMI cable from NewEgg last night, plugged it in and after two reboots, X reconfigured itself and was up and running. I tried playback, but the menu changes were painfully slow and the video loading left me bored waiting for it to load... obviously I have something not quite right... as I really only record SDTV (have two comcast DTA's running into a PVR-150 and PVR-350). I do have a PCHDTV-5500 recording clear qam that comcast still lets through... but I haven't looked into how that playback performs on the appletv. Standard SDTV was good before the HDMI / CRT HDTV switch, so probably some tweaking should solve it.
MacNean,

Fortunately my inherited CRT HDTV only supports video over HDMI and has a seperately defined and accessible set of RCA jacks for audio input. Think I started with .22 on it, can't remember, but Also started with like 8.04 Mythbuntu, which has upgraded right along with myth fine. My only thing is, now all my other frontends use Netbook remix (Acer Revo's and my father's machine I have set up for him). So been debating starting over on the appletv and putting netbook remix (so sue me but I actually like Pulse Audio). And w/e GUI is on the netbook remix is pretty light weight, prolly not as much as XFCE prolly why I haven't on the aptv yet.

MacNeal,

Thanks for the reply... so I'm gonna just keep barking up "this-here" tree. I was following the ATV Bootloader instructions as well. I've been saving my notes, in hopes of making at least a mailing list report as to how I got mine tweaked. There's all sorts of resources out there and a combination of about 6 or 7 different sources has netted pretty decent results so far. Just doesn't seem to be anything real up to date.
