I currently have a digital converter box connected to a homemade antenna. I get all my local channels which is enough for me. I have the digital converter box plugged into my analog PVR-150. I dont think I need to worry about encryption as I do not have a cable/satalite provider.<br>

</div></div>Could you explain a bit more about what you're going for? NTSC hasn't<br>
been useful for broadcast in the US for almost two years now, and using<br>
a PVR-150 to record off a broadcast DTA is just foolish. Either you're<br>
in Canada where NTSC is still common, or you've been recording analog<br>
cable. We need to know what you intend to do before we can recommend<br>
hardware. There are significantly cheaper ATSC tuners than the<br>
HVR-1600, but those are cheaper since you wouldn't get a hardware<br>
encoder for use with analog cable or STB capture.<br>
