Out of curiosity, since you run Unity, what do you do about the
stupid status bar up top when using MythTV? I tried Unity
initially w/ my latest mythbuntu setup and couldn't find a way
to get rid of it...found a few confirmations you can't get rid
of it and even tried making it "transparent" (but it shows the
desktop) and finally ended up filing a bug report w/ Ubuntu :-P<br>

If using unity...I find that there are 3 things that need to be
adjusted to allow to work with Mythtv. You will need to load
Advanced Desktop Effects Settings

A. Remove top panel - Utility>Workarounds>Check Legacy
Fullscreen Support. <br>
B. F10 Volume – Desktop>Ubuntu Unity Plugin>Behavior>key to
open the first panel - change key selection<br>
C. Alt F7 Tuner signal strength – Windows Management>Move
Window>General>Initiate Window Move - change key selection
