thread it was because I was trying to use Firewire to record video
change the channel on my STB (Cisco RNG150N). Basically just use the one cord for both. I
was able to successfully capture video off my STB beautifully but I
couldn't find any way to change the channel. None of the scripts I tried
would work. Well that's not entirely true. One worked but it would only
changed the channel up and down, it would except no other commands.<br><br></div>So
then I decided to try to the IR Blaster /Emitter that came with my HP
MCEUSB Kit to change the channel on my STB while still using the
Firewire to capture video. But it's not working either, well not yet at
least. I've got a few more things to try including picking up an Iguana
IR USB which I've heard good things about from this list. So we shall

So after playing around with Irrecord last night I was able to create my own lircd.conf for my RNG150<span></span> and after adding that to my hardware.conf was able to successfully change cable channels and power the STB via the LircChannelChange script using the IR Transmitter. It works!!! The lircd.conf files that I download online for my STB didn't seems to work which leads me to believe that my Cable Box is probably not really the correct version or brand I think it is. Who knows?<br>
<br>Also the Cisco RNG150N does need a IR Receiver to work. It will not accept commands otherwise. I know this makes no sense, but I tried it both ways and it only works with the receiver plugged in. The forum boards at Comcast at this one correct. If someone knows the reason why for this Iove to hear it.<br>
<br>Anyhow, this is great news, since I just ordered an HD PVR 1212 (from eBay) and plan to set that up and try it out next. I also think I'll add some of my findings to the MythTV WIki because to be honest half the problems I've run into are issues that weren't on the wiki.<br>
