Open Sound System (OSS) is the first attempt in unifying the digital audio architecture for UNIX. OSS is a set of device drivers that provide a uniform API across all the major UNIX architectures.
OSS development is supported and managed by 4front Technologies and is currently available under GPL, BSD, CDDL or commercial licenses. Source code can be downloaded at []. OSS is cross-platform and is currently available for Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris operating systems.
