I am a working Software Engineer, mostly in scientific computing.

I am trying to set up MythTV at home. The backend (hopefully) will be Debian Lenny (testig as of 2/2009). Many front-ends. Windows. Mac. Linux. UPnP clients.

I run a small home network, where the MythTV backend is also the household file/media server, firewall, DMZ, DHCP, DNS, Internet WWW server.

I bought a SiliconDust HD_Homerun, ethernet device with two broadcast TV tuners, which I intend to use for my initial tuners.

If I like it, I may consider adding more tuners, and/or an inteface to DirectTV box. Unfortunately, I have a lot of time left on my DirectTV contract, so I won't be trying cable anytime soon.
