I upgraded from Mythbuntu Jaunty to Karmic with update-manager.
The Jamu cron task sends me an email every hour.
They started like this:
! Warning: Download IOError on URL for Filename(/var/lib/mythtv/fanart/The Gadget Show_fanart.jpg) Orginal URL(http://images.thetvdb.com/banners/fanart/original/80747-2.jpg) IOError urllib.quote URL(http://images.thetvdb.com/banners/fanart/original/80747-2.jpg)
After fixing the URLs, I'm still getting this:
run-parts: /etc/cron.hourly/mythvideo exited with return code 1
If the network is slow, the Jamu processes can stop the backend from shutting down.
Mythwelcome sometimes starts before lircd, so I can't start the frontend with the remote.
Ubuntu always screws up my lirc config when I upgrade.
3 & 9
I need to map new page up and page down buttons, as 3 and 9 no longer work.
PIP and PBP
I can now manually set the PIP to use a different input, which makes this much more useful.
I have 3 virtual tuners per physical tuner. The "Select Input" menu lists all 3. They're identical, please list just one.
The "Browse all channels" option does allow channels on other inputs to be selected, but MythTV refuses to automatically switch the PIP to that input to watch them.
Were 4 PIPs available before? Watching 5 channels is nice!
Why is PBP limited to 2 views? There is space for 4.
Monit doesn't think mythbackend is running, and restarts it regularly.
Upstart will restart crashed backends now, so I've removed monit.
The new flash player seems more stable, but seeking fails.
The ical upcoming recordings link does not work.
Warning at /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb/modules/_shared/tmpl/_errors/unknown_module.php, line 23: require(modules/_shared/tmpl/ical/header.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'modules/_shared/tmpl/ical/header.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb/modules/_shared/tmpl/_errors/unknown_module.php on line 23
The "Help (Status Icons)" dialog does not contain the icons that the Terra theme is actually using.
The video preview options no longer have an effect.
Only updates thumbnail with the bookmark location once per recording.
The green animation in the thumbnail of programs that are recording rotates anti-clockwise. I find this confusing, I'd prefer it to rotate clockwise.
There are lots of missing icons - "No Image Available".
Freeview provides series metadata, like "www.five.tv/ra6j".
Sometimes not all programs in a series have the same title, e.g. "Doctor Who" and "Doctor Who Christmas Special", or "The Gadget Show" and "The Gadget Show Winter Special".
It would be nice if MythTV would use the series metadata as well as the title to decide what to record.
Delete stops record and commflag
Probably sensible, but it was a surprise the first time.
For some reason I had the text size set to 125, which made mythbrowser unusable. Resetting the text size to a sensible size fixed this.
Autologin was disabled after upgrading.
