Air2PC
From MythTV
This article is about earlier generation cards sold as "Air2PC". Newer cards by this vendor are sold as the Technisat AirStar HD-5000
The Air2PC card is a discontinued ATSC HDTV card commonly found on eBay. It is fully supported by Linux. The most common version seen is the first generation model utilizing a Broadcom BCM3510KPF 8-VSB demodulator as the frontend. The second generation of cards produced utilize an ATI nextwave nxt2002 demodulator. These cards are not designed to recieve QAM modulation used with digital cable.
Kernel modules and firmware
Support for the air2pc card is present in kernels 2.6.11 and newer. These cards use the b2c2_flexcop_pci kernel module. Hotplug support must compiled into the kernel and an external helper program (package "hotplug" in debian) must be installed to handle firmware loading. A copy of the appropriate firmware such as dvb-fe-bcm3510-01.fw must be placed in the appropriate distribution specific directory (/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware in debian).
