Introduction

There are three different GUI's for setting up a complete MythTV installation:

All three setup GUI's can be started with the following commands:

  • mythtv-setup
  • mythwelcome --setup
  • mythfrontend (setup section included in the mythfrontend)

One could immediately spot the inconsistency among the setup names.

mythtv-setup

mythtv-setup is a configuration utility for configuring mythtv-backend.

mythwelcome --setup

mythwelcome displays a myth themed dialog which shows a welcome/status information screen that is designed to be shown whenever the frontend is not running. In order to setup the mythwelcome, one need to run the mythwelcome --setup

mythfrontend

The frontend process is responsible for anything that requires interaction such Watching Recorded Programs or Watching TV. The program to start the frontend is called mythfrontend.
