AMD64 Question

I will have to say personally in my AMD64 experience using things such as nuvexport to archive video the transcoding speeds were subpar with Gentoo. I do not know if this is a limitation of the transcode project or gentoo. In performance I was able to beat my AMD64 in transcoding with my 1.4ghz thunderbird. If you are able to point ways around this I am all ears!
