I'm in Arlington, VA, USA, so I may be looking for/offering help in the Washington, DC area. My computer background is mostly Unix (BSD/SunOS/Solaris/MacOSX); odd things before that -- AmigaDOS, C64, IBM System 32 & 34. Minimal exposure to MS-DOS and Windows, which means commodity hardware for Linux is new territory. I've had a 60GB ReplayTV 3060 since Feb 2001, and it's time for something better.

May 2007 - I'm just getting a system together: refurbished Compaq (AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4GHz, 512KB L2, 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2, 200GB 7200rpm SATA HD, LightScribe 16x DVD±R/RW DL, 9-in-1 card reader, Modem, 10/100 NIC), WinTV-PVR-500 MCE dual tuner, Seagate Barracuda 750GB SATA (added 2nd disk), Streamzap PC Remote.
