One of MythTV's strength is the easy way you can get extra features by adding plugins.

Basicly there are two kinds of plugins: 1) the official MythPlugins which most people normally install by default and 2) the Unofficial plugins developed by the many users and fans of MythTV.

Official plugins

MythPlugins is a set of plugins for the frontend of MythTV. (There's also MythWeb included, which is not a plugin but to that later.). Since the Version 0.17 all the official plugins are included in this Package.

To get the newest Version of MythPlugins, you can use subversion to checkout the latest revision of either the development branch or the stable fixes branch. You can also find a tarball on the mythtv.org website where links to other Binary distributions can be found.

If you're using MythBuntu (or another Ubuntu- or, presumably, Debian-based setup), you can do "sudo apt-get install mythplugins" to get the official set of plugins.

Unofficial plugins

Unofficial Plugins - A list of the many available (unofficial) plugins.
