In the context of consumer home theater equipment, component video refers to the three coaxial lines, terminated in red, green, and blue RCA connectors. This format does not carry independent red, green, and blue signals, but rather uses YPrPb signaling. This format is capable of resolutions ranging from 480i to 1080p.
