Scope

The intro claims that this page is SD only, but there is a lot of HD info. Maybe another page should be created for HD frontend choices.

XBox 360

Has anyone tried the XBox 360 as a frontend? Any insights?

PS3

  • need more info! (not even sure if anyone has MythTV working on one yet?)
    • Yes, tested as a backend & frontend using Gentoo, MythTV 0.20 on a 60GB PS3 with a WINTV-PVR-USB2 tuner. --Yani 10:21, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
      • Yani, you stated that playback is slow due to the framebuffer. Did you compile MythTV against normal Qt and run it inside X with framebuffer as driver, or did you compile MythTV against qt-embedded and run it directly from the console without X? I already have a backend server running fine so i'm only interested in a frontend on the PS3. --Shyru 09:26, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
      • I started a new page documenting my own progress of MyhtTV on the ps3: MythTV on Playstation 3 --Shyru

I moved from the article to discussion Kichigai Mentat 00:41, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

AppleTV

The article claims that it is capable of HD. While, it may be capable of outputting at HD resolutions, I do not think it's capable of HD in a MythTV context (i.e. playing a broadcast ATSC MPEG2 stream), it doesn't have the horsepower. People have tried playing HD MPEG2 via VLC, and found the AppleTV can't keep up.
