My MythTV-Setup

I am currently running a backend/frontend combo.

I switched to a separated frontend/backend configuration. This took a looong time, but finally everything is working as before.

Backend

My backend serves as homeserver. All my pcs boot from network using tftp.

Hardware

• 2 GB RAM
• Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (64-Bit Mobile CPU)
• ASUS N4L-VM DH
• 2x 160 GB harddrives using software RAID0 (os, important files, ...)
• 2x 300 GB harddrives for recordings, movies, music, ... (less important files)
• Hauppauge DVB-C (full featured)

Software

• Debian 4.0 (Etch, amd64)
• MythTV SVN Version (14158)

Frontend

Display

• Panasonic AE700 projector (1280x720)

Hardware

• MSI MEGAPC 651 (MS-6760)
• 1 GB RAM
• Celeron 1800 MHz
• 320 GB Harddisk
• Hauppauge DVB-C (full featured)
• ATI Radeon 9250 (passive cooling)

I removed the Harddrive and use PXE to boot from network.

Software

• Debian 4.0 (Etch)
• MythTV SVN Version (14158)

ToDos

• Replace the ATI card of the frontend with a Geforce 5200 and use XvMC
• Buy powerline network to remove the CAT5-Cable lying across the whole room ;-)
