Zalman HD160

Zalman USA Global

Available in black or silver the Zalman HD160 HTPC case is an all aluminum chassis designed to run cool and quiet. It features an adjustable top vent for CPU cooling, 2 additional side air inlets for the GPU and PSU and an additional set of vents underneath the hard disk bay with space for an additional fan (though no associated mounting holes).

The case comes equipped with two "Ultra Quiet" 80mm fans, 17 in 1 media reader, VFD, IR sensor and MCE remote control (2 AA Batteries Included). A matching aluminum optical drive bezel is also included, that is fastened by double sided foam. Even the eject button matches this all aluminum case.

A Zalman multi-connector is also included that allows you to run the 2 included fans either "normal" at 2800 RPM (32 dB) or "noiseless" at 1400 RPM (20 dB).

Linux drivers for the VFD/IR module can be found at IRTrans Downloads.

LCDd requires the irserver (the irserver is needed for both the remote and the VFD) to be already running. Try these lines in your /etc/rc.local:

/usr/local/sbin/irserver -daemon -netmask 127.0.0.1/32 \
  -http_port 8080 -no_lirc -loglevel 4 -logfile /var/log/irserver \
  /dev/ttyUSB0 >/dev/null
/usr/local/sbin/LCDd -s 2>/dev/null &

Setting up the Zalman remote

Setting up the Zalman remote involves using the "IRTrans ASCII Client” to train the server to recognise the remote, or you can just download a definition from [1] and copy it to /usr/local/share/irtrans/remotes . Once the remote definition file is installed you will need to create a lircrc file for mythtv and copy it into your ~/.mythtv directory. You can download one from [2] .

The Zalman remote also features the ability to turn your mythtv box on / off using the power button found on the remote. For this to work you will need a switches.cfg file. You can grab one from [3] . This will also need to be copied into /usr/local/share/irtrans/remotes
