It would be nice if it could include episode number, stored as syndicatedepisodenumber in the program table, as an option for renaming. You could have something like: %ie = Last two digits of episode number %is = Episode number, excluding last two digits
So the format "%T - S%isE%ie - %S would give a filename of something like "Dexter - S3E09 - About Last Night.avi" for episode 309 of Dexter. This way programs that try to index shows based on titles, like XBMC, could correctly identify the recording.
I've modified mythrename to do just that (except I use %e for episodes number.) But, the script is for 0.20.2-0ubuntu10.1 and doesn't always work. There's a 2-line script at User:Rosenbluh you can use to at least list the available episodes. I'm just very hesitant to post an old script that often doesn't work, even though it doesn't have any bad side effects when using the link flag. Rosenbluh 19:09, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
I've hacked the script but in case other people want these features:
1. remove "Untitled" subtitles (where it doesn't exist)
eg add arguments --removeuntitled
