NIT (Network Information Table) is a service information element carried within a DVB transport stream, it describes how transport streams are organized on the current network, and also describes some of the physical properties of the network itself. The NIT also contains the name of the network, and the network ID. This is a value that uniquely identifies the network that is currently broadcasting the transport stream.
