If you record from a Set Top Box, a.k.a. cable box you will need to know if it is powered on when you start recording. Otherwise you record a blank episode.

There are various ways to do this:

Silence detection

Checking STB Power Status

Ensure Set Top Box is on

Monitor hdpvr
