traffic between the ONC/modem and router(actiontec) appears to be 802.1q tagged vlan.

vlan 34 is the IPTV network

the router will bridge vlan 34 into the lan, along with multicast packets

All tv channels appear to be RTP streams over multicast, like rtp://239.42.151.7:8208/

There doesn't appear to be any need for mac cloning or dhcp trickery like Sasktel IPTV, just joining the multicast group sends a flood of packets to any normal linux pc.

i suspect that some(all?) channels are encrypted

2013-08-07 19:09:15.243973 N DTVSM(): PMT says program 8208 is encrypted

tstools reveals that the rtp stream i was testing on is indeed encrypted

 Packet 624 is PAT
