Newbie notes
This is my first attempt at a full MythTV setup with recording, playback etc. Here are a few notes I found when installing and configuring:
- Slave: mythbackend not not starting - using mysql.txt from /.mythtv as mythbackend ran as root. Needed to change to point to master backend
- Scan for channels doesn't work in mythsetup, used frequencies from [2]
- Used .EPIA for xorg.conf provided with MythDora in /storage/misc/extras - fills screen but flicker and overscan
- Use RF from video - amp in video, purchasing separate amp
- Run playback in full screen
- Lirc - needed to edit /etc/modprobe.d/lirc to set type=1 (for this type of homebrew receiver)
- Hue - ran into picture adjustments bug - had to reset hue `v4l-ctl [-d /dev/video1] --set-ctrl hue 0` and also update cardinput table for both pvr-500 tuners
New Directions
Aside from various housekeeping and finetuning tasks, what else do I want to do?
- Replace MythMusic with SlimServer client
- Upgrade SlimServer to SqueezeCenter 7.0
- Build and install Jive (builds fine on Ubuntu laptop, try with MythDora next)
- Either use squeezeslave or suggested Jive playback for playing music
- Purchase hardware (TV/speakers) to do the system justice
- Much better power management
- Move backend upstairs - EPIA with fan and HDD is too noisy. Backend should be normal box, frontend can be epia but PXE booted (MiniMyth or an export of the MythDora FS). Hardest bit s the wiring!
