Nasa is a nomad. When at home, wherever his hat is, he likes to fiddle with linux (especially enlightenment), fix his pond, and/or watch sports. I have dabbled in some code...

My main goal when building my system was to create a HTPC. Specific features I am going for (and their status) are:

  • 1. STD PVR -- Works
  • 2. HD PVR -- Needs Help
-- After many days trying to get firewire from my SA3250HD, I finally got it to work. It may have been because of a recent
kernel upgrade, but I'm not sure. As of TODAY, all my digital and HDTV channels are coming through (not 5c encoded).
However, channels that are broadcast both in digital and analog don't work over firewire (strange...). Rebooting the
box (which is happening because of some other problems), requires the firewire connection to be primed. I am using the
SA3250HD Firewire Priming script. Unfortunetly, attempting to do
this as part of rc.local causes mythfrontend to freeze when it starts up.
  • 3. Play Music -- Works
  • 4. Play DVD -- Works
  • 5. Play Video files -- Works
  • 6. Play Games
  - Somehow I don't have sound from any of my games (using S/PDIF)....
  -- MAME, Works
  -- Linux native games, Works
-- Still working on SNES games
  • 7. Control system via 1 remote -- Needs more work
-- 880 needs some more tweaking to get it like I want, will post results when done.
  • 8. Play games via wireless gamepad -- Needs more work
-- more work by me needs to be done.
