I currently have four systems that either run or affect MythTV.

myth0

  • AMD Athlon64 3200+; 1GB DDR
  • Geforce 6200 PCIe; SB Audigy 2 ZS
  • 2x PVR-150; 1x HVR-1250
  • Network boot, 300GB for recordings
  • Gentoo and MythTV 0.21
  • Runs primary backend and frontend

This was built off guts from a previous desktop, and currently serves a 35" SDTV

myth1

  • AMD Barton 2600+; 1GB DDR
  • Geforce 6200 AGP; SB Live 5.1
  • Network boot
  • Gentoo and MythTV 0.21
  • Runs frontend only

This was built off guts from a previous desktop. It is primarily a linux test stand, however the frontend was installed for use.

ps3

  • Accesses MythTV through UPnP

Currently serves a 26" Samsung LCD TV

fserve

  • AMD Opteron 165; 2GB DDR
  • Geforce 6500 PCIe
  • Areca ARC-1230; 8x300GB RAID6 UFS2 (1800MB); 3x750GB RAID5 UFS2 (1500MB)
  • 1x250GB
  • FreeBSD 7
  • Archival storage, Mythweb, MYSQL, Windows PDC, NFS home, planned backend (mythtv will not compile)

This is the first purpose built incarnation of this machine. Previous versions were either built from old desktop parts, or other freely acquired computer parts. The case contains hotswap storage for 12 3.5" drives, with static room for 5 more, and 3 5.25" bays. The system board and case were purchased around the above Areca RAID card.

netapp

  • P4 1.8GHz
  • FreeBSD 7
  • DNS, DHCP, Asterisk, PXE boot server

This was built from a previous desktop (seems to be a trend here). While FSERVE performs all media and storage related tasks, this machine performs all network maintenance related tasks. The firewall box is kept as stripped/dumb as possible, so this takes care of all the other tasks that would usually be handled on a consumer router. While not directly related to MythTV, this handles the phone system used by MythPhone.
