:No problem. I'm actually doing the exact same upgrade (from 0.19p9163) so once you put up your results, I'll go through and copy them, adding in whatever didn't work for me, or any other details. I really want a proper upgrade guide out there for MythTV on Gentoo and it sounds like you're very thorough. Waiting for at least an ~x86 ebuild in portage is much safer. ::Looks like mythtv and all its buddies are masked packages, now. The buildonly option might not work well - to build a plugin, you need to have the mythtv package already installed. I think I can build mythtv and mythtv-themes as binary packages, but after that you'd have to have some downtime. I guess the plugins aren't mission-critical anyway, since without them shows will still record. JeffSimpson 19:51, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

:::I was thinking the same thing... I'm going to wait on 0.20. I went through a similar procedure for an upgrade from 9163 to the most recent 0.19-patches and it went well. Did a quickpkg, then an emerge -B then emerge -k. Worked great. Dgrant 20:07, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Just curious, are you using gcc-4.x? I'm still on 3.x. Dgrant 22:19, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

I am considering upgrading from myth 0.19 to 0.20, primarily for the mytharchive functionality. You have a disclaimer on this article to hold off upgrading until you are finished. Can we have a progress update? Where are you with this? Would you recommend waiting until the myth .20 ebuild is up? --Michaeljp 08:06, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

You rock! I haven't tried this yet, but there are few techniques in here that look interesting, like the -B option. And using quickpkg is a great idea, I use it all the time. Dgrant 22:46, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

I haven't actually finished it, yet, either. I've decided to wait for the official ebuilds, since the mytharchive plugin is not yet available as an ebuild. Right now (in 0.19) I have mythburn able to easily make dvds out of recordings, so I don't want to mess that up until the replacement (mytharchive) is available.
